What´s new

Finnish automation specialist Wisematic Oy has developed a simple turn-key solution for machine tending.

Techman collaborative robots (cobot) are loading the workpieces to the machining center, and then the OK-VISE Powerplate has been developed and used to automatically hold the workpieces in the machine.

Additionally, the co-bot can execute all the actions just like a human operator, eliminating the need for any I/O interface between machine tool and cobot.

It is the year of COVID-19 now and every exhibition is cancelled - including the one that was supposed to be held in Helsinki.

So, guys from machine dealer, Ismo Lindberg Oy, has organized a VIRTUAL SHOW, where the "booth" is showing KIWA machining center with two tooling blocks from OK-VISE supplied with several Multi-Rail units

OK-VISE has now developed a system for clamping force verication. Now, there is finally a system where the end users working on the machining centers can

a) verify that the clamping force is high enough to hold the workpiece
b) check that clamping force is not too high to damage the work piece
c) measure the machining forces


 Additionally, we have FIXTURE SCADA system to collect statictics from a pool of fixtures. This is useful for analytics and development purposes.

This system will be shown in Fastems Open House in Issum, Germany on 20th and 21st June 20017.
Next presentaton will be during EMO in Hannover in September, and we start supplying the system to customers in October


OK-VISE Fixturing Concept solutions have been included in the product range of many leading distributors specializing in workholding industry. With more and more OK-VISE components, and particularly Multi-Rail RM systems, being shipped worldwide, our company is experiencing a real sales boom.

The biggest project in 2016 comprised of the 140 pieces of the Multi-Rail sets (based on RM-600 module). Besides, sets for horizontal, vertical and 5-axis machining centers have been increasingly popular among our customers and we see more sales growth ahead.

Hydraulic clamping is available in all our Fixturing Concept systems. Case: Fixturing components for generic-purpose workholding.

We are proud to announce that one of the highlights at the EMO show will be our Fixturing Concept with hydraulic clamping. This is a concept that can be used not only in robotic loading, but also in semi-automated solutions where loading is done manually and automation is used to save clamping time.

One of the most fascinating cases we have ever had was our recent turnkey concept for precision instrument manufacturing. Please take a look at the video.

Kytola Instruments, who has now installed a Flexible Manufacturing System (FMS) from the Finnish company Fastems, are extremely happy with their investment. Together with 14 new tooling blocks supplied by OK-VISE Oy, including several Fixturing Concept and Multi-Rail setups, the system has improved their flexibility significantly.

In total, Kytola is machining today about 100 products with two HMC machining centers in their FMS, typically each component is machined in two set-ups. 

Kytola Instruments is using two major OK-VISE technologies in minimising their set-up times:

1) Multi-Rail RM units

Using this generic-purpose concept the stopper and clamp modules, side guides and parallels can be easily moved in the base rail. Additionally base rail position can also be easily changed using tooling block with 25x50 mm grid pattern.

2) Sub plates with OK-LOCK

When modifying the fixture is not possible, the whole fixture plate can be changed in less than a minute using OK-LOCK zero-point positioning system. Kytola has been using mostly dedicated sub plates in the past. Today - thanks to the flexibility of Multi-Rail system - the amount of dedicated fixtures has gone down. Now only 20% of the fixtures are dedicated sub plates, the remaining Fixtures are built using Multi-Rail units.

Kytola Instruments, a Finnish company that is specialised in flow metering components is investing in FMS system. The system integrates 2 Mori Seiki machining centers with FMS containers of Fastems.

OK-Vise Oy was chosen as the supplier for all workholding equipment. Core components of the working system includes tooling blocks, specifically:

  • 10 pieces of the tooling blocks are equipped with Multi-Rail.
  • 4 pieces of the tooling blocks are OK-Lock tooling blocks, which enables changing of fixturings extremely fast.

All together there are a total of 48 pieces of RM Multi-Rail units.

In addition to components in FMS systems with horizontal machining centers (HMC), Kytola Instruments has also invested on two OK-Lock positioning system, for their vertical machining centers (Bridgeport VMC’s). One of the two is installed as an indexer for the 4th axis.

So why did Kytola Instruments invest in FMS system?

We wanted to use two of our machining centers more efficiently,” said Sakari Häyrynen the Managing director of Kytola instruments.

Kytola will highly benefit from this by radically reducing our set-up times, producing more capacity with less machines and increasing the utilization of our machines by operating them also in unmanned hours” he added.

Jarmo Tuohimetsä the production manager commented, “ we wanted to have a state-of-the-art manufacturing system and the FMS system will surely help us achieve that goal. This will also lead to more investments on this system in the future.”
