OK-VISE at the Finnish National Skills Competition - Taitaja 2012

The Finnish National Skills Competition Taitaja is the largest annual event in which vocational students compete for Finnish Championships in various skills categories. In 2012, the event was held at the Paviljonki Congress and Trade Fair Centre in Jyväskylä on 24 – 26 April 2012 and attracted 42 027 visitors over three days.

The slogan of the event was “Find out what makes you tick”.

The Taitaja2012 Jyväskylä Event was organised by the Jyväskylä Educational Consortium in cooperation with Central Finland based companies, organisations and educational institutions.

OK-VISE was one of the sponsors of this competition and the OK-VISE grid-plate set with rails was used in the CNC milling competition.

The CNC Milling/Turning was an individual competition and it had 8 contestants. The milling competition focussed on chipping skills. The competitors were given a blank, some technical drawings and instructions. The competitors then made the required product using the materials provided by the organisers. The products were made by using a CNC Machining Centre and a manual turning lathe. The competitors used the CNC Machining Centre to make the necessary settings and programme for the machine tool in question, and then made their product. In manual turning, the competitors make a product on the basis of a technical drawing by using the turning tool they have chosen.

New approach in low-profile clamps

When our product range of low-profile clamps is expanding, we have now found out that it is more logical to change the way how we categorize our low- profile clamps.

In our new brochure, and also in www, we categorize our clamps based on their type, not their size (A,B,D,F) like before.

Expanding the OK-VISE Product Family

OK-VISE has developed new products to meet the changing needs of our customers. These include a model with two self-adjustable jaws (instead of one self-adjustable jaw and one smooth jaw) which comes in three sizes, and two combo models: machinable + smooth jaw; additional piece + smooth jaw, which both come in four sizes. These new models create new possibilities for clamping different types of work-pieces.

Pull-down sets

OK-VISE single-wedge clamps can be transformed into single-wedge pull-down clamps by using a pull-down set.
Earlier bushings and plates were sold separately, now it is more economical to buy a set.

Sets are available for B-, D- and F-series single-wedge clamps.
For example, when used with the BK2-VT, DK2-VT or FK2-VT clamps, which we recommend, you get the very same clamp that is sold with the product codes BK2-VT-PD, DK2-VT-PD and FK2-VT-PD.

The New O-series

Some of our customers prefer our economy-series, which works sufficiently well in applications where absolute repeatability and accuracy of the clamp is not a necessity.

We have changed the design, so that now the most significant visual difference between BK2-VT-O and BK2-VT-SO clamps is the wedge top, which is no longer ground.
Our smallest series is only available as the economy model (AK2-VT-SO)

It is noteworthy that even with these technical specifications, which are rather modest in our standard, these clamps outperform most of the competition. However, we still recommend ground versions for professional use.

Olli Kytölä 1927-2009

Kytölä-yhtiöiden perustaja Olli Kytölä nukkui ikiuneen Jyväskylässä 8. marraskuuta 2009
82 vuoden ikäisenä.

Olli Kytölä jää elämään mieliimme yrittäjyyden, laadukkaan toiminnan ja ihmisläheisen johtamisen symbolina. Ollin innovoinnissa vain paras oli kyllin hyvää. Hänen luomisvoimainen kautensa oli lähes koko elämänkaaren mittainen. Hänen elämäntapansa oli vaatimaton, mutta vaativa ja kannustava. Vaikeiden teknisten ongelmien pohdinta ja ratkaisun löytäminen tuotti hänelle suunnatonta riemua. Ratkaisun siirtyminen teolliseksi tuotteeksi palvelemaan kansainvälisen teollisuuden tarpeita oli hänelle luomisjakson täyttymys.

Olli Kytölä oli perhepiirissään toisen polven yrittäjä ja hän juhlisti taannoin suvun satavuotista yrittäjyystaivalta. Hänen toiveenaan on ollut saada toivottaa perheen kolmas sukupolvi tervetulleeksi Kytölä-yhtiöiden johtoon. Tämän turvaamiseksi hän organisoi varsin kokeneen hallituksen täydentämään poikiensa nuorta ikää ja turvaamaan Kytölä-yhtiöiden jatkuvuuden myös tulevaisuudessa.

Suurenmoisen ihmisen menettäminen on aina haikeata, joskin ihmiselon mukaista. Kytölä-yhtiöiden hallitus ja toimiva johto jatkavat yhtiöiden kehittämistä asiakasläheisesti, laatutietoisesti ja innovatiivisesti Olli Kytölän viitoittamaa tietä pitkin.

Mr. Olavi Meriläinen has taken over Mr. Salilas job as Sales & Marketing Director. Sami Salila is now focusing on his family-business.

Full 10 year warranty

OK-VISE has been a leading manufacturer of wedge-clamps for over 20 years. Some of our first customers have been using the same clamps all this time and still use them on a daily basis.

Based on this experience and after conducting extensive tests with our clamps we are prepared to offer a full 10 year warranty on the quality of the raw material and craftsmanship of all the wedge and jaw parts of our low-profile clamps excluding the blackening, springs and sideplates.

Simply return the whole clamp with the defective part direct to us. We will replace the part and ship the complete clamp back to you. The cost of the replacement part and return shipping will be borne by us.

The warranty does not cover damage caused by a machine malfunction or failure or a machinist causing damage due to human error or misuse of a clamp.
